Well, that was fun

Okay, Thursday I was at a client site for 13.5 hours-- didn't get home until after midnight-- needless to say, no work out Thursday.

Friday I got into work late, had a doctor's appt... and patrol that night, from 11-5. I was going to go to the gym, but I was so tired driving home that I went straight home and napped for a few hours before the detail.

Saturday I had a detail from 12-5 (which meant I was busy from 11 - 5:30. Again, I was too tired to go anywhere.

Sunday I had fencing. Only one other person showed up and I lasted a lot longer than I have in the past, but I'm still really out of shape. After fencing I went to the gym and I survived 5 minutes on the eliptical trainer.. did 10 minutes on the tread mill, another 2 minutes on the eliptical. Then I worked my stomach muscles and legs on the Nautilus equipment... and did another 5 minute health assessment on the treadmill.. this time I was merely "Below average"

Then I relaxed doing about 3 laps in the pool.. nice slow and leisurly. I'm happy to say I can swim almost half the pool underwater before surfacing.

I'm getting there... 50 tic tac work out

Congratulations! Sounds like you're making good progress!

What helped me (not that I'm in very good shape, but it helped when I was losing weight) was to keep reminding myself that I didn't gain it overnight, so I wasn't going to lose it overnight either--and in a few months I'd either be thinner and in better shape (if I worked at it) or the same or worse (if I didn't). What also helped me was trying on progressively smaller clothes at the end of each month (but this only works if you're a mad packrat like me and never throw any clothes away even when they're way too small. I guess going to stores works too. :) )

Keep up the good work and you'll be in shape before you know it! :)

Yeah, that's good advice about the not gaining it overnight, and it's hard to remember because you get so excited and wound up about being on the losing end.

Thanks!

Yes, never throwing anything away does have its advangages. I'm getting further and further into my collections of clothes. I even fit into one of my nicer dresses, which was good for the client site.

My family doctor from when I was a kid always said, it'll take you as long to take off as it did to put on. Nothing happens over night...

I know this, I just have to remember it from time to time.

Friday I was at the doctor's office for a regular check up and the nurse noticed I'd lost 20 pounds since my last visit. (and 40 or so overall)... she made sure the doc noticed and he said that I'm at the same weight I was in '97. That felt good.

I am looking forward to having more endurance. 'cause next year I'm going to Pennsic and I'm going to fence and dance my brains out!
